Most people meet a 3D printer through a screen. You find a model someone else made, tap print, and hope for the best. This course is the other side of that.
In one short session, you will sit in front of a printer that is actually yours to run. You will learn how the machine works, where to find models worth printing, and how to prepare a file so the printer does what you intended—not just what the default settings guessed. Then you will choose a model from our curated list, set it up yourself, and watch it print. Not a demonstration. Not a video. Your hands, your settings, your print.
We keep the models short—every one is under thirty minutes—so you leave with something physical, not just notes. Materials are included, and the software setup is simple enough to do in the room. Bring a laptop, download the software beforehand if you can, and we will handle the rest.
This is not a lecture about the future of manufacturing. It is a crash course in the fundamentals: what a printer actually does, what the materials feel like, where the good models live, and what most beginners get wrong before they waste filament at home.
You will also see what a makerspace can be beyond a row of machines—our materials, our printing services, and the kind of in-person guidance you do not get from a drop-and-leave service. If you have been curious about 3D printing but did not want to buy a printer just to find out, this is the cheapest way in. Ten dollars, one session, and you leave with a print and a working idea of what comes next.
For those who already know their way around a slicer, come anyway. Bring your questions, print something from our list, and use the time to talk through the parts that still feel like guesswork.
